One extra day and the trip opens up properly. Yerevan gets a full city day. Khor Virap is on Day 3 — the monastery sits right at the Turkish border with Mount Ararat directly behind it. Garni & Geghard: Garni Temple is the only Pagan temple still standing in Armenia. Geghard Monastery next to it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Symphony of Stones gorge runs alongside both.
Khor Virap: Sits right at the Turkish border. Mount Ararat is directly behind the monastery on a clear day. One of the most photographed spots in the region.
Areni & Noravank: Armenia’s wine country. Areni-1 Cave is an archaeological site — one of the oldest known winery sites in the world. Noravank Monastery is a short drive away. Arpi wine tasting with lunch included in 5D and 6D packages.
Lake Sevan: Large high-altitude lake. Sevanavank Monastery sits on the peninsula above the water with views across the shoreline.

Local Culture & Cuisine
Armenian hospitality is not a marketing phrase — it shows up in the food, the monasteries, the markets and the villages. At the table: lavash bread, khorovats barbecue, dolma, harissa, spas soup, gata, dried apricots and local cheeses. Armenian coffee is worth trying. The Vernissage Market in Yerevan, monastery stops and village dining give the trip a layer that hotel stays alone cannot.
Dining ranges from Yerevan cafes to traditional village meals. Halal-friendly options can be requested in advance for families from Qatar, subject to restaurant availability. Indian, Arabic or international restaurants in Yerevan can also be arranged on request.
Practical Travel Information
Best travel months are April to October for sightseeing, greenery and comfortable weather. Winter works well for snow and mountain activities at Tsaghkadzor. Local currency is Armenian Dram; major cards accepted in hotels and city restaurants. English spoken in tourist areas; Russian also common.
Pack valid passports, visa or e-Visa if needed, travel insurance, comfortable walking shoes, light jacket for mountain areas, power adapter, personal medicines, roaming or WhatsApp-enabled phone. Families should request baby seats, extra beds and dietary preferences at booking.
Flights & Visa from Doha
Qatar Airways lists direct flights to Yerevan from Doha. Qatari passport holders are on the visa-free list published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia — up to 180 days per year, no visa required. Other nationalities based in Qatar need to check their own passport requirements; many can apply through the Armenia e-Visa portal. Processing takes up to 3 working days. Reconfirm visa and flight details at the time of booking — rules change.
